The legendary Maloja wind makes it possible to hold wonderful sailing and windsurfing regattas in the Upper Engadin in high summer when everywhere else is becalmed. Summer highlights include the Swiss, European, and sometimes also the world championships, which take place on Lake Silvaplana and Lake St. Moritz.
At an altitude of 1800 m a.s.l., the Upper Engadin lakes are blessed with fantastic wind conditions. With wind strengths of 3-6 on the Beaufort scale, the Maloja wind blows up during the course of the morning and dies down at dusk – providing a real paradise for sailors!
