210 km of well-groomed cross-country ski trails crisscross the Upper Engadin landscape and its side valleys. Whether you are training on the Engadin ski marathon track, want to test the limits of your performance on the cross-country racing trails or would like to fit in an extra training session on the floodlit night-time trails, Pontresina is the perfect place to do it.

Tips about waxing

Early season cross-country ski trail

The snow-covered Cuntschett cross-country ski circuit, approximately 3.3 km in length, is open right from the beginning of November, temperatures permitting.

Nighttime cross-country ski trail

The start of the nighttime cross-country trail, length approx. 1.3 km, is located at the cross-country ski centre. During the season the trail is lit by floodlights from Monday to Friday, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m (without Saturday and Sunday).

Contribution toward the cross-country ski trails

As a holiday guest, you can purchase the Engadin cross-country ski pass ‘Schneekristal’ and thereby make a valuable contribution to the upkeep of the network of cross-country ski trails. The pins are on sale at the counters along the cross-country ski routes and also in the tourist information centres and cross-country ski centres.

Engadin Ski Marathon and women's race

The Engadin Ski Marathon has been held annually since 1969 on the second Sunday in March, leading from Maloja via St. Moritz and Pontresina to S-chanf. This public race covers the classic marathon distance of 42 km and can be traversed using the skating or classic techniques.

On the Sunday before, the women’s run is held each year covering 17 km from Samedan to S-chanf.

Cross-country ski schools in Pontresina

Pontresina has two well-known cross-country ski schools. Expert, multilingual cross-country ski instructors give instruction at various levels of ability, either individually or in groups. You can choose the technique, either classic or skating.
