Any journey worth doing has a well-known start and finish. But this tour has its own highlight at Fuorcla Surlej. Nowhere can a better view of the majestic Piz Bernina be seen. The first stage of this tour begins in the pine woodlands of Val Roseg.

Through millions of years the glaciers have formed this expansive valley Val Roseg, the evidence of which is so clearly visible. The tour follows along the valley, offering breath-taking views of the Roseg and Tschierva glaciers. As far as the Hotel Roseg the path leads through beautiful woodlands along the river Ova da Roseg.

The ascent to Fuorcla Surlej provides a unique view of both the Roseg and Tschierva glaciers. On reaching Fuorcla Surlej an unbelievable sight of the Bernina range comes into full view. The pulse of any hiker quickens as the beauty of Piz Bernina and Piz Roseg can be seen in all their glory. The reflection of the mountain range can be captured in the small lake of Fuorcla Surlej.

From Furcla Surlej the path begins the descent towards Sils and opens new vistas of the Engadin lakes. Passing through the alpine roses and the blue gentians in the spring landscape, the Silser and Silvaplaner lakes lie below you. The path leads towards the mountain station for the Furtschellas cable car and continues on to Sils.

Properties
Follow the marked-path and the yellow sign posts.
Tip of the author
To shorten the route a horse-drawn coach can be taken through the Val Roseg or the descent can be reduced with the Furtschellas cable car.

An overnight stay in the Fuorcla Surlej mountain lodge provides a special experience. Enjoy the sunset and sunrise in this spectacular setting.
