Engadin Festival: Opening concert with cellist Daniel Müller-Schott
Kongresszentrum Rondo, Via Maistra 133: Sat, 29.07.2023 | 7.30 pm - 9.00 pm
He is a cellist "who plays the stars from the sky": Daniel Müller-Schott has long been one of the greatest cellists of his time, and now he makes his first guest appearance at the Engadin Festival.
The New York Times praises his "intense expressivity" and describes him as "a fearless player with outstanding technique". Together with the Pilsen Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Festival Director Jan Schultsz, he will interpret a work that is particularly close to his heart: Dvo?ák´s Cello Concerto. For him, it represents the perfect blend of extroverted virtuosity and an inwardness that touches deeply. The second highlight of the evening is the "Symphony from the New World". It was written during Dvorák´s stay in America and is probably the most stirring romantic symphony ever.
Programme opening concert:
Antonín Dvorák: Cello Concerto in B minor op. 104
Antonín Dvorák: 9th Symphony in E minor op. 95 "From the New World"
