Even in a winter coat, the Via Maistra in Pontresina is perfect for strolling! Music, local delicacies, warm drinks and a warming fire provide ambience and the best entertainment.
Before this year's "Viva la Via Glacier Edition", the great revival of an old tradition will be celebrated on the Diavolezza with the entire valley on Saturday, March 16, 2024. The traditional popular race “Diavolezza Glacier Race” is taking place on the glacier run for the first time since 1980.
As part of the revival on March 16, 2024, the focus will be on raising awareness of climate change and the associated retreat of glaciers. To mark this occasion, an auction in aid of glacier protection will also take place following the award ceremony, which will take place at 4.30 p.m. as part of the Viva la Via Glacier Edition. Special items will go under the hammer: two fine art pictures by the Swiss photographer Jürg Kaufmann, selected glacier experiences with the Pontresina mountaineering school and works of art by the Engadin wood sculptor Nora Engels, created from the finds from the recent "Glacier Clean-Up Days". The proceeds benefit various glacier maintenance projects.
The exciting promenade program on Plazza Bellavita starts at 3 p.m.
