We have no sea but you can still swim.

Dear guests,

As summer quickly approaches, the last bits of snow on the Engadin’s alpine pastures give way to lush green grass, and our valley once again turns into a glacier and water paradise.

Your Pontresina summer holiday is also coming up soon, and we are already looking forward to indulging you with many wonderful moments of joy. Likewise, it is our heartfelt wish to send you a big «Thank you!» for your loyalty and for your resolve to visit our alpine valley, discover its magnificent nature and explore its rich culture even during these challenging times.

On this occasion, we would also like to assure you that your health and safety are our top priority. Accordingly, we will do all that we can to fill your Engadin summer days with countless meaningful and unforgettable holiday moments.

Lake Staz – the most famous lake in the Engadine.

The Engadine is known for its lakes. Above all, the Big Four: Lake Sils, Silvaplana, Champfèr and St. Moritz. But if you want to go for a swim, these may not be the right choice, because these deep lakes barely reach temperatures of more than 17°C in the summer. Fortunately there are alternatives: small hill moor lakes. These are relatively shallow, and the dark water means that the sun heats them well. So, despite the altitude of 1,800 metres, in the summer these moor lakes reach a pleasant 20°C or more. The most famous is the Lej da Staz or Lake Staz.

There are plenty of scenic lakes scattered around Pontresina

Waterfall path "Cascada da Bernina"

The waterfall path "Cascada da Bernina". Translated from the Rhaeto-Romanic, the word "Cascada" stands for waterfall. The mountain stream "Ova da Bernina" plunges over two hundred metres in altitude towards the bottom of the valley. In addition to the rushing spectacle, visitors can also expect pioneering technical achievements.
