A measuring station was put into operation as early as 1863 which marks the beginning of the systematic measurement of meteorological parameters.
This makes the Sils measurement series one of the longest in the entire Alpine region and is of great value for observing climate development. The stations were located at various locations in the village.
The Sils measuring station is currently located at the Champsegl schoolhouse.
