Wind sculpture Anne Frank

wind sculpture Anne Frank
5 meter high sculpture made of dark tarnished brass, located directly along Fexerstrasse (a few bends after the Hotel Waldhaus).
The work of metal sculptor Paul Gugelmann (1929-2022) combines the symbols of the great world religions - cross, Star of David, yin/yang, crescent moon and sun - with those of Sils Maria - sun and fish - as an "island of peace". It was erected in 1997 in memory of Anne Frank, not far from the Villa Laret, where the Frank family vacationed in the summers of 1935 and 1936.
The banker Arthur Spitzer had the house built here in 1912/13 by Karl Koller, the architect of the Hotel "Waldhaus". Spitzer's wife Olga, née Wolfsohn, was a cousin of Anne's father Otto Frank. At her invitation, Otto traveled with his family from Amsterdam to Sils in those summers.
