Mobilität in und rund um Pontresina
The UNESCO World Heritage Rhaetian Railway transports guests on an exciting journey from glaciers to palm trees, into the Valposchiavo valley, or even to Tirano in Italy. The bus stops at the gateway to the Swiss National Park, and in summer there are connections to Livigno (Italy). The Palm Express and other bus services also offer convenient access from here to Lake Como (Italy), Ticino, and Lugano.
The Upper Engadine is accessible from all directions by the Rhaetian Railway and, via well-maintained Alpine passes, also by private car. However, it's always advisable to keep an eye on the weather. The Rhaetian Railway's car shuttle service is also available at the Vereina Tunnel.
Carsharing in Pontresina
Pontresina has its own hiring facility of the Swiss Car-Sharing Pioneer ‘Mobility’. The electric vehicle in the Rondo car park was introduced as the first "placement sharing" in the Upper Engadin, which provides immediate combined services for locals and visitors, as well as a company vehicle for employees of the Pontresina Municipal Administration. >>. A ‘Skoda’ ENYAQ 4x4 electric car suitable for use in Alpine destinations is also available for excursions around Pontresina. ‘Mobility’ offers various subscription options depending on individual user requirements.
It’s just that simple:

- Download Mobility Carsharing App.
- Select vehicle category "Combi Electro" at the Rondo Multi Storey Car Park, enter date/time and booking.
- Open the car at the booked time, drive off and bring it back on time

The modern regional trains of the Bernina line and the world-famous ‘Bernina Express’ run past the gigantic Morteratsch Glacier, and climb without rack and pinion assistance over the highest railway Alpine pass in Europe (2'253 meters above sea level) and wind their way down into the Valposchiavo Valley in bold hairpin bends. Highlights of the UNESCO Southern Part of the Grisons Route through the Bernina Glaciers adventure region include the Montebello Curve, Lago Bianco, Alp Grüm and the Brusio Circular Viaduct. When travelling from the north on the Albula Line, there is also the world-famous and boldly curved Landwasser Viaduct to experience and admire. The "Kleine Rote" as the railway is sometimes termed is the narrow-gauge railway of our hearts and an Alpine lifeline in the tourist Canton of the Grisons’. A rolling highlight, which connects pretty mountain villages, languages and cultures throughout wild and romantic landscapes.
Car parks
The Mulin and Rondo car parks, both centrally located, are the public car parks operated by the municipality of Pontresina. Both car parks are subject to a charge, have controlled access and are open all year round, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
A particular advantage is that the first hour’s parking is free at both car parks.
