«In the Summer of 2009» - more than a book about design

The book "In the Summer of 2009" stages around 50 design objects and interiors by the Italian designer and architect Matteo Thun. It shows a so far unpublished series of images by Swiss photographer Walter Pfeiffer.

The book is a humorous merging of the then young sons with the oeuvre of their famous father: a humorous homage to Matteo Thun, one of the most important designers and architects of Italy, and its furniture, products, interiors and buildings.

Susanne Thun, the architect's wife and muse, inspired the Swiss photographer Walter Pfeiffer to travel from Switzerland to Italy in the summer of 2009, during which he photographed numerous of Thun's design objects.

He did not do this as a dry object documentation, but in the sense of highly lively "tableaux vivants": Pfeiffer was namely accompanied by the two then teenage sons of Matteo and Susanne, who thus form the main visual narrative of the book and are depicted together with the objects. This photographic panorama is supplemented by an index of all the products and projects shown.
