A magnificent path through the Morteratsch valley, which impressively illustrates thousands of years of earth history

This hike begins at the railway station of Morteratsch. After you have crossed the tracks, the path branches off to the right and climbs up. You then walk towards the glacier, sometimes on and behind the glacier moraines. The trail below the hut crosses rocks, which requires a certain surefootedness. The path now climbs steeply over rocks and grassy mounds to the Boval hut; the view from the terrace of the magnificent Bernina Massif is awesome. After a well-deserved rest, you descend by the same route until just before Morteratsch. At the fork, it is worth heading for the Morteratsch Glacier and hiking back to Morteratsch from there.
