The Creative Box – the Free Art Studio
In Pontresina, visitors can also freely enjoy their creative talents on vacation, as well. The Creative Box provides this opportunity. The Studio is a bright, sunny place for art, culture, leisure, socialising and for the practise of ‘free thought’. It is open to the public and well equipped with paints, tools, with all nature of art materials, and ‘bits and bobs’. Fascinatingly, it also represents a meeting place for dialogue across generations, cultures and interests, as well as between locals and visitors. Expert guidance is provided by a team of voluntary helpers. Visits to the Creative Box are free of charge. Participants are only required to purchase the materials used, as well as for snacks and drinks. Alternatively, the studio can also be rented privately.
Yoga & Meditation in Pontresina
Visitors have also an opportunity of being able to ‘go within’ and relax by finding ‘their inner centre’ in meditation at over 1,800 metres above sea level. These activities can be exercised on the roof of the Hotel Schweizerhof, on a SUP-Stand Up Paddle Board on the Lake of Morteratsch or wellness in the Saratz. Visitors and locals alike will find a wide range of yoga, ‘Pilates’ and meditation programmes in the high alpine Pontresina Region.

Fly Fishing in mountain lakes
The Engadin has particularly rich fishing grounds, making it one of the most plentiful inland fishing regions in Europe. Even during a longer stay, no angler has to visit the same body of water twice over. A 15-day fishing licence is available permitting fishing in all the 460 waters of the Canton of the Grisons, Switzerland.
Fly-fishing highlights can be exercised on the mountain lakes of Lej Nair or Lej Pitschen below Lago Bianco on the Bernina Pass. But, these two lakes may only be fished with a special licence. This can be obtained from the Pontresina Tourist Information Agency. The season is from the beginning of June to mid-October. Further information on fishing in the Upper Engadin can also be obtained from the Cantonal Office for Hunting and Fishing of the Grisons, or from the Upper Engadin Fishing Association. Furthermore, young people up to the age of 14 may fish free of charge when accompanied by adult licence holders.
