Snow-Kiting on the Bernina Pass

@Bigdayz
The Bernina Pass is an insider tip for the snow-kiting sport. The wide flat areas near the Lago Bianco and the Lej Nair are varied and windy, and ideal areas for racers, beginners and freestylers.
There are also ‘backcountry’ ‘hinterland’ facilities available with long and challenging tours. The Bernina Pass is a typical north-south corridor. Ideal wind conditions for the snow-kiting sport are in the north and the north-west. A northerly ‘Foehn’ (Sirocco) wind creates a steel-blue sky, whilst southerly ‘Foehn’ weather produces much snow. Kiters can access the area with their own motor vehicle or the use the Rhaetian Railway as transportation. Then, they can rig up their kites and set off at once.
