Plazza Bellavita | Summer deck

On the Plazza Bellavita in Pontresina, at the heart of the shopping and gastronomy ‘Mile’, there is a pop-up area provided. This represents a central platform on the longest town promenade in the whole Engadin. And, it invites all generations to take a break and meet up.

‘Hanging about’ on the Plazza Bellavita

The striking ‘stone pine’ construction, including high-quality seating made of ‘Swiss stone pine timber’, is an ideal complement for an all-round relaxed Promenade experience. A summer meeting place without having to go into the obligatory hostelry, and with an unobstructed view of the Engadin Mountains is worth the experience. In keeping with the ‘Viva la Via Philosophy’ in Pontresina, it suits the curious and the ‘connoisseurs’ alike.

‘Viva la Via’ is an all year-round celebration of the Promenade Lifestyle of Pontresina. On each day throughout the Summer months, visitors are invited to take a break on the Plazza Bellavita. The temporary but modular platform stage is a centre point for all the various Summer Happenings. It is also one of Pontresina's "youngest pavilions". The timber structure also pays homage to the long history of tourism in the area. The ‘pergola-inspired’ slatted roof construction provides shade along the sun-drenched ‘Pop-Up’.

Rental of the kiosk pavilion

A multifunctional kiosk pavilion stands prominently on the longest village promenade in the Engadin. This new promenade contact point combines digital guest information with temporary and changing kiosk functions under one roof.

Context overall Transportation Concept 2024+

Mobility is a social megatrend and the Municipality of Pontresina has drawn up a new overall transport concept 2024+ for its populated area. An important focus here is the critical examination of public space areas. Giving people back meeting and open spaces in the residential area strengthens the attractiveness of open spaces. There are countless model projects in Switzerland and around the world for enhancing the attractiveness of squares and car parks with temporary or permanent leisure installations. Using creative shapes and natural colours, they encourage pauses for reflection in the hustle and bustle of everyday life as well as for making new acquaintances and engaging in conversations. With its own ‘Pop-Up’, Pontresina is bringing this refining approach (Pontresina's Brand Strategy) to the town centre as ‘food for thought’. The ‘Pop-Up’ Plazza Bellavita is intended to slow things down and provide food for thought on the Local Promenade. This is to awaken the Via Maistra as a central and lively lifeline for the streets of the town.
