A short train journey to the Bernina Pass before setting off on the second stage.

From the Bernina Pass, the route leads up to Fuorcla Minor on a well-maintained singletrail and down to Forcola di Livigno on an equally well-maintained singletrail. The route continues along the valley floor into the wide plain of Livigno, keeping to the right of the stream and reaching the village of Livigno mainly on singletrails. In Livigno, a refreshment of pasta is called for, as the Chaschauna Pass is still on the programme. To do this, you ride up the Valle di Federia and then on the steep gravel road past the Rifugio Cassana up to the Chaschauna Pass. The ascent is very steep! For the descent, singletrail fun is the order of the day: the path down into Val Chaschauna was specially designed for mountain bikers and is the perfect final section of the second stage, which ends a little further down at the Varusch park hut.

Parkhütte Varusch: The Parkhütte Varusch at the entrance to the national park spoils you with local specialities and on the terrace you can enjoy fantastic views and with a bit of luck you can spot ibex, roe deer, stags and chamois.
